An Atlanta Golf Course Review

Off-season review on 03/08/2026 by Dan Pavlu (@divotdemon)

Coweta Club at Arbor Springs

Public

$45 Weekday, $55 Weekend

45 minutes Southwest of Atlanta

If you read the reviews about Coweta Club you’ll see things like: “Basically an unplayable course”, “Worst conditions I have played in all year”, “Horrible!” (all real quotes directly from GolfNow). So naturally I had to go and see for myself. And to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. The guy I played with said that last Fall the greens were essentially all sand, which explains all the bad reviews. I’m not sure if they got a new maintenance team or something, but the greens I played were just fine.

Clubhouse

Pulling up to the course, I could tell this was going to have quite a bit of elevation change. From the outside, the clubhouse has a very “woodsy” look. One thing I learned when researching this course is that it lends its name to the local Coweta tribe who historically inhabited the area. They had some Native American artwork in the clubhouse which was pretty cool to see as a history nerd. It looked like they were doing some construction in the dining room, not sure when that’s supposed to be finished. The pro shop was on the smaller side but had a nice assortment of merchandise along with a cooler where you could purchase beverages. One thing to note, the person I played with mentioned that the clubhouse tends to close on the earlier side for some reason. We finished around 5pm and the clubhouse was already locked.

Practice Facilities

The practice facilities at Coweta Club consist of a driving range and putting area. The downhill driving range has 8 mats and an area where you can hit off of grass. The matted area also has an overhead canopy which provides some shelter from the hot Summer sun and rain. The putting/chipping green is fairly large and has a pretty cool view of the 9th hole. Unfortunately there’s no larger short game practice area with bunkers, but overall the practice facilities they do have are in solid shape.

The Golf Course

The layout of this course is super fun and if they improve the conditions of the course I think it could be considered a hidden gem of the area. They have five sets of tees total with the shortest coming in at 4962 yards and the tips at 7056 yards, so plenty of options for every skill level. My group played the white tees at 6202 yards. Except for hole 3, the par 3s were a big highlight of this course. Hole 3 is a slightly uphill 170 yard par 3 that felt bland to me. However, the other par 3 on the front nine, Hole 8, was a fun one. It plays about a club longer uphill.

There’s a small lake that runs alongside the hole and the view from the green is really cool. Hole 13 is a downhill par 3 with bunkers guarding the left and right side of the green and 2 bunkers if you go long. Hole 16 is a short downhill par 3 with hazards off to the right and a bunker short left. Overall it was a fun assortment of par 3s with varying distances. Hole 17 is a par 4 but played like a long par 3 at only 235 yards from the white tees. It is fairly tight though so it’s sort of a risk-reward shot off the tee if you want to go for the green. My favorite hole was the par 5 14th.

If you hit a good drive off the tee you have a chance to go for it in two, however there are bunkers scattering the fairway between the green and 75 yards out. It’s one of those holes that really makes you think before club selection. There are a few tricky tee shots out there (holes 6, 10, and 15) that if I wasn’t playing with someone who knew the course, I would’ve had a much tougher time.

Conditions

As I said at the beginning, if you’re comparing the conditions to the recent reviews you see online you’ll be pleasantly surprised. That being said, there are some areas on the course that need work. For one, the bunkers are very inconsistent. Some were in great shape and others were borderline unplayable. The greens from what I’ve heard have vastly improved, but could use a little bit more work. Hopefully they continue to nurse them back to good health. Most of the tee boxes need work as well. There were a bunch where you’re essentially just hitting off of sand. All this being said, the fairways were in really good shape and it seems like this course is on the up and up.

Value

I played on a Saturday afternoon that I booked as a hot deal for $44. At this price I would recommend it. I think the $55 weekend rate is a bit steep for the conditions you get, but the weekday rate of $45 is worth it. They also have walking rates that are $10-$15 cheaper, but honestly I don’t know how you can walk this course as it meanders through a neighborhood with long distances between holes.

I recommend Coweta Club... but only if you can get on for under $50.
