With Atlanta now firmly immersed in winter—and with it the inevitable frost delays and general weather-related discomfort—this seems an opportune moment to review some of the many indoor golf options available across the metro area. Over the last three or four years, Atlanta and its surrounding suburbs have seen steady growth in the indoor golf industry, leaving local golfers well served with facilities catering to a wide range of needs and budgets.
Georgia Swing Shack
1009 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076
Conveniently located less than five minutes off GA-400 (Exit 8), Georgia Swing Shack is what I would describe as a no-frills facility aimed at golfers seeking high-quality simulator technology at an affordable price. This is a purely golf-centric experience rather than a social or entertainment-driven venue like Topgolf.
Owner Sean Cabrey is friendly and knowledgeable, and he explained that customer usage varies by season. During the quieter summer months, the clientele tends to comprise golfers interested in game improvement with swing and ball-striking data the primary focus. In winter, however, the mix shifts toward players looking to enjoy the thousands of digitally replicated golf courses available, including many famous layouts from around the world.
As expected, winter is the busy season, and bay reservations are often required on evenings and weekends. During the summer, walk-ins are usually accommodated without issue.
Like most indoor facilities, leagues play an important role in sustaining the business. On fall and winter evenings, it’s common to see three or four of the bays occupied by players competing in league events. Several friends of mine play in these leagues and consistently speak highly of both the quality of competition and the relaxed social atmosphere.
The furnishings at Georgia Swing Shack are modest, as are the food and beverage offerings. There is always a staff member available to serve soft drinks or a canned beer, and I’m told their hot dogs are surprisingly good if hunger strikes mid-session. That said, this is not a full-menu establishment and makes no attempt to compete with higher-end venues—and this approach is reflected positively in the pricing.

5 Iron Golf
675 W. Peachtree St. NW, Suite 209, Atlanta, GA 30308
If Georgia Swing Shack represents the golf-purist, no-frills end of the spectrum, 5 Iron Golf sits firmly at the opposite extreme.
Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, 5 Iron is part of a rapidly expanding national brand focused on upscale golf and entertainment venues in dense, urban environments where traditional golf options are limited.
From the moment you enter, it’s clear this is a premium operation. Each bay features industry-leading TrackMan systems paired with multiple swing-capture cameras, allowing players to review their swing from several angles. While this setup certainly appeals to golf data enthusiasts, the venue is designed for a broader audience as well.
A stylish bar anchors the space, complemented by a surprisingly high-quality menu with most of the food prepared fresh on site. For those looking to mix golf with social activity, additional entertainment options include shuffleboard, air hockey, and pool tables.
One standout feature at 5 Iron is their Callaway club-fitting service, offering a professional fitting experience comparable to what you’d expect at a private club or specialty retailer.
Parking can be a concern in Midtown Atlanta, but a large covered garage is located immediately next door, and parking validation is provided.
