The Best Amateur Tournament For You 🫵

Amateur Tournaments are a blast. A great way to play new courses, meet new people, and see how you handle some extra pressure. All of them are flighted which means if you're a 25 handicap or a 5 handicap, you only play against people around your skill level.
People often think that to compete you have to be a "good" player (whatever that means), but no matter your skill level, you can compete.
An added benefit of getting used to competition golf is that it makes your casual rounds much less nerve-wrecking!
Luckily, we have quite few options to choose from and each provides something slightly different than the others.

US AM Tour - Atlanta
Pros
Ton of events
Year-round
Mixture of solid public courses and high-end private courses
Nearly 400 members - 2nd largest in the country
Director, Ryan Moore, has been part of the Atlanta golf scene his whole life. Very well connected/respected and is approachable/responsive to questions.
Cons
Some of the high-end events fall on a Monday or Friday
$139 membership fee, $99 renewal each year
Use code ATLGOLFS for a $40 discount for first time members (expires March 31st)
Notes
Perfect tour for someone wanting to compete in a lot of events throughout the year.
It's very organized and provides a good balance between the seriousness of competition, while still having fun.
Here's a recent interview we did with Ryan about the US Am Tour

The Grint Tour
Pros
No mandatory membership fee (members do save ~$30 per round)
Syncs up with The Grint App for live leaderboard tracking during events
Most events are on weekends
Cons
Smaller membership base
Usually only one competition per month
Notes
Great tour to dip your toe in and see if you like competition.
A bit more lax than some of the other tournaments

Players Circle
Pros
Ton of a opportunities to win money - multiple players won over $1k last year
Different tournament formats (match play, stroke play, etc)
Use a particular app to track payouts and leaderboard
Cons
Definitely the most expensive tour in the area
A bit higher pressure because of the amount of money up for grabs.
Smaller fields
Schedule runs from April to September
Notes
If you like betting, look no further.

APT
Pros
Year-round
Average around 2-3 events per month
Payouts from games in cash
Solid membership base
Good mix of private and public courses
Cons
Requires membership of $135
Renewal is the same $135
Notes
Solid organization. Comparable to the US AM Tour.

Atlanta Golfweek Amateur Tour
Pros
Solid courses
2-3 events per month
Advertise the option to try out competing at one event prior to becoming a member
Cons
Limited season February to September
Membership is $93
Notes

Elite Valor Am Tour
Pros

Seems very tight-knit
Cons

Notes
I don't have any personal experience with this tour either, so this information is all based on what I could I find on their website.
