Wolf Creek Golf Course
Public
$50-70
20min from Atlanta
Tougher course than what meets the eye. If you're glancing at the scorecard (from the blues) you'll see a bunch of short par 4s, medium par 3s, and manageable par 5s... But miss in the wrong place and you'll be scrambling for bogey. A good number of forced carries off the tee, water lurking on a 3rd of the holes, trees and leaves line most of the fairways, and many greens have steep drop offs that penalize even a slight miss-hit. When you do make it to the green, you'll be faced with undulating greens and tough pin placements. I've not met too many people who score well at Wolf Creek... So embrace the challenge!

Conditions were pretty good, however, there were quite a few tee boxes that were pretty bad. The fairways were relatively healthy and the greens were in very good shape. Not too fast, not too slow, and rolled true.
What was most impressive was the amount of work being done to the course. Tons of sod being laid and bulldozers bringing in fresh sand. I always appreciate seeing a course investing in its upkeep. It makes me want to come back and reward the investment.
Wolf Creek definitely lacks in the amenities department. Pretty bare pro shop, no cart person, no alcohol, and limited food options. They do have a grass range, but it's mostly sand at this point. Putting green is pretty nice.
From a course management perspective... Just hit the club that keeps you in play off the tee. If you don't need to hit driver, don't. You'll be punished. The par 3s can sneak up on you too. Don't miss where the green drops off!
With all that said, I don't think it's worth the $70 weekend rate. This is a solid $50 course. I snagged a hot deal and played for $45 which felt like a solid value for the cost. It's a good course to have in the rotation, but you'll be underwhelmed compared to other $70 courses in the area.
If you play on a weekday and force yourself to play less than driver off the tee, I think you'll have a great experience at Wolf Creek.
