Cherokee Run is local favorite due to its adventurous layout, condition, and price point. You won't find many flat lies as you traverse up and down it's terrain, which makes for beautiful views and a challenging round of golf.

The layout is a lot of fun, with a fair amount of "quirk". Right off the first tee you're faced with a severe dog leg and an elevated green...although "elevated" doesn't do it justice. I'm still not sure of the best line to take on 4, and on the par 5-8th I hit a 9 iron off the tee. Pretty sure that's a first. I like quirk, but that's a bit much even for me! The back 9 is a bit more straight forward sans 14 and 18.

Big fan of the par 3s. 3/4 were downhill and I used a different club for each one including a long iron and a wedge. 12 in particular is stunning and one of the best in ATL.

The conditions of the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were very good. Greens were quick! However, it seems like they are in the middle of re-doing some of the bunkers because some green-side bunkers were white, whereas many others were reddish-brown. There were also a handful of fairway bunkers that were nearly unplayable.

I didn't have a chance to warm up on the range, but it was a grass range which is always a plus - $12 for a large (80 balls) or $7 for a small (35). Beautiful pro shop and the bar/restaurant had everything you could want on the turn.

Cherokee Run is very adequately priced for the experience, even at $70. GolfNow does have HotDeals as low as $35 for weekday and $53 for weekend which is a fantastic value.

If you're looking for something a little different/challenging with beautiful views, add Cherokee Run to your lineup.
