Chapel Hills is technically a private club, but last year they opened up "member for a day" tee times via GolfNow. One of the best layouts in Metro-Atlanta. So much fun. Just 6500 from the tips and the conditions are very good.
The layout has everything you want. Short par 3s, long/elevated par 3s, Drivable par 4, gettable par 5s, elevated tee boxes, and somehow there's not a single tee shot that is significantly uphill. Even has a unique, shared green between 9 and 18.
The greens are excellent. Surprisingly bouncy - tough to get approach shots to stick. Bunkers are in great condition and there are a TON. Fairways are also very healthy. The only downside are the tee boxes. So many are sand pits. Even the driver holes, which is odd. Seems like many need a total rehaul.
Course management tips.... Lots of doglegs so don't hit a club that blocks you out because you've gone too long or too short. There are a few sneaky hazards as well, so use a GPS. Lastly, there are a few gnarly greens. I 3-putted 4 times because I ended up on a tier too high.
The facilities and amenities are great. Complimentary range balls(!), classy locker room, large putting green, cart person came around 3 times, good food options on the turn, and water in the club/ball scrubber on the cart.
At $65 on a weekday, I think it's an amazing value for cost. At $85 weekend, I think that's probably the max I would pay. At least until the tee boxes are grown back up. If the tee boxes matched the green quality, this is a $100 course.
I definitely recommend adding Chapel Hills to your rotation!
